Client - Territorial Army

The Territorial Army (TA) is a part-time volunteer force of the British Army, and forms around a quarter of the British Army’s total manpower force. The TA is the largest of all the British reserve forces, and has bases across the UK.

The TA is a symbol of Britain, and each of its regiments is extremely well-respected.

Project - Exterior and Interior Signage for the TA regiments in Greater London

Design Brief

The Lettering Centre team worked with the Territorial Army to create a range of signage for the regiments in and around London. These regiments included the London Irish Rifles, the London Support Squadron, and the 131 Independent Commando Squadron.

Exterior signage comprised of both projecting signs mounted on framework, and wall-mounted signs.

For the interior signage The Lettering Centre was asked to create wooden plaques and commemorative boards. We also manufactured wall-mounted display cabinets.

Solution/Description

The Lettering Centre manufactured a range of standing projection signs, which comprised of embossed aluminium, curved to give the impression of 3D signage, and mounted on a metal framework. These were finished in regiment/squadron-specific colours.

Further exterior signage involved aluminium boards mounted directly onto the brick walls of the buildings.

Inside the buildings we manufactured large varnished wooden boards, and stenciled gold lettering onto them. These were then mounted to the walls. The boards were intended for displaying commemorative information, and thus were highly polished to create the feel of luxury and importance
