Project - Interior and Exterior Signage; Interior Heraldry

Design Brief

Location: Knightsbridge, London

The team at The Lettering Centre worked with Harrods to create a flawless set of heraldic signs, featuring the ‘Harrods’ coat of arms. We also were asked to create signs for within the store, both for the new ‘Harrods Studio’ and to replace other signs within the building.

Solution / Description

For the heraldic sign we painstakingly crafted a 6ft-tall coat of arms, which was meticulously hand-painted and embossed in luxury green and cream paint. We then hand-decorated it with 21-carat gold leaf.

For the exterior signage we formed gold letters which were built-up and attached to a large green fascia projecting from the building. This sign was be eye-catching and equally formal and imperious to fit in with the ‘Harrods’ brand.

For the interior signage we created hanging signs which were green-painted aluminium with painted gold letters placed in the centre. These again were incredibly luxurious, in keeping with the ambience within the store.

Finally, for the interior signage within the ‘Harrods Studio’ we manufactured an embossed aluminium fascia panel onto which was placed screen painted graphics in the same gold colour as the hanging signs.
